Elementary School:
Whitlow Elementary School
All new elementary school opening Fall 2009! More details to come....
Whitlow Elementary is Forsyth County's eighteenth elementary school, named in honor of Mr. George W. Whitlow. It is built on 24.45 acres and will house over 1,000 students in an one-story prototypical elementary school design.
The land purchase for this school was announced in December 2006. In January 2007, the Forsyth County Board of Education officially named the school George W. Whitlow Elementary School. The naming was agreed by both the sellers of the property and the Forsyth County Board of Education for a $250,000 reduction on the sale price of the property. This was the first time in the history of our school system that a such an agreement was made. We are thankful for the generosity of Mr. Whitlow’s family and look forward to preserving his legacy in this new school community.
Otwell Middle School
Otwell's state-of –the-art facility opened in 2001. With
beautiful views of Sawnee Mountain, three courtyards, and
outdoor classrooms, the school is a haven located in
Cumming. The décor utilizes a brain-based color scheme
that also reflects Forsyth County’s most precious natural
resources-Sawnee Mountain, Lake Lanier, green pastures,
and the foothills and forests of the north Georgia
mountains.
The mission statement of Otwell Middle Schools is "Our unrelenting quest is to do whatever it takes to teach, inspire and motivate our learners"
Forsyth Central High School
As Forsyth County’s first high school, Forsyth Central is
steeped in history and tradition. Located in downtown
Cumming near scenic Lake Lanier and Sawnee Mountain,
Forsyth Central exudes a warm family atmosphere where
learning and student success are paramount.
Message from the Principal -
We believe in Excellence in the 3A’s: Academics, Athletics, and the Arts. Within each of us there is a gift. It is our task or responsibility to help each of our students to find their gift, and whether it is Academics, Athletics, or the Arts, we need to provide these opportunities. We are the Central family. Rudy Hampton, Principal
