Bowen Family Homes wants to make your homebuying experience as easy and rewarding as possible. So, we offer helpful information about the mortgage process, a payment calculator to help you determine how much home you can afford – even an online mortgage application. This information is especially designed for first-time buyers, but can be helpful for seasoned homebuyers, too.
Not only will we help you find your new Bowen Family Home, we’ll also help with the financing. Our mortgage lending affiliates, including Pine State Mortgage, will work with you to make every step of the financing process as smooth as possible. Those steps include:
- Prequalification – Before the loan process formally begins, the lender gathers information about your income and debts to determine the size mortgage you can comfortably afford.
- Opening the File – After prequalification, the lender arranges a property appraisal and survey, collects credit reports, and mails out requests for all the documentation needed to process the loan.
- Processing – Usually occurs within 30 days of issuing the loan. The processor reviews all of the information and puts together a package to be underwritten by the mortgage lender.
- Underwriting – The lender reviews all of the processor’s documentation to ensure it meets their criteria. Mortgage insurance underwriting may be included if you have less than 20% of the loan amount as a down payment.
- Pre-closing – Title insurance is ordered, all final verifications are made, and a closing date is set.
- Closing – The big day! You’ll go to settlement on the loan, sign the final paperwork, and receive the keys to your new Bowen Family Home.
